A Forex practice account is also known as a Forex demo account. Foreign exchange brokers give this to prospective clients as a free trading account to allow them to get familiar with their services. It contains as much as $100,000 in virtual money, but does not involve any real money.
Using a forex trading demo account is an excellent way to get started.
You can use it as a testing ground for your trading theories. Since it involves no real cash, its by far the best way to try out ideas and trading systems.
Costly mistakes can be avoided by learning with demo accounts. For instance, mistakes like clicking sell when your intent is to buy and vice versa. These are mistakes anyone can make when getting used to new software and new trading strategies.
The broker provides this free account to enable their potential clients to see what trading will really be like with their trading platform. Thus it provides you with an efficient means by which you can evaluate the different trading platforms available.
One example would be trailing stops, which may be allowed on some platforms while disallowed on others. Should these trailing stops be an important part of your personal system then you obviously must choose a platform that allows this.
A forex demo account is the start of your efforts towards making profits in Forex trading. You must trade with a forex practice account before risking actual money.
Keep in mind that although these are virtual funds, you must trade with and treat them as though they were real money. Otherwise your trading behavior and risk taking will not mimic real life which means you aren’t really practicing for real trading at all. You’ll be able to simulate your true trading system only if you keep that important fact in mind.
Here are a couple of forex trading sites where you can open demo accounts free of charge:
1. Forexyard trading platform
2. Easy Forex Trading System
